It was two weeks before my thirteenth birthday, which of course is a terribly big deal…transitioning from tween to teen is nothing to take lightly. My world was changing rapidly; I was experiencing so many new things, middle school, boyfriends, swimming practice, PG13 movies, and Europe.
As a treat for my special day, my grandmothers concocted the most brilliant gift a young girl could ever experience: a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Paris and London. The Eiffel Tower, yeah, it’s real! And Big Ben is magnificent. Harrods’s; wow. Everything I could have imagined and more. My absolute favorite moment though? (Remember, I was 12.) The Bright Red Double Decker London Tour Bus! Nowhere on the week’s schedule was a ride on the colossal automobile mentioned, but I begged my grandmothers to allow me just one short trip. All the way to Europe and no totally awesome red double-decker ride? Stonehenge can wait; I had to see London from the second story of this bus! It was memorable. A moment to cherish forever. I believe I waved to every single British citizen I passed that hour. And beyond my memory, what do I have to remember this event by? A beautiful sterling silver charm bracelet. One I wear with pride, and while I have since traveled to more fabulous European countries, it remains the favorite of my “travel charm” bracelet collection.
My name is Megan, and I'm from Forsyth, Georgia. I am 18 and will begin college at Clemson University this fall. I have been collecting charms since I was 9.
