My Own Pandora's Box

My mom read an article in the Sunday news paper about Pandora bracelets. She was drawn to it because of the link to Greek mythology. I am into Greek Mythology and especially fascinated of the story of Pandora’s Box and what it holds. I was a big Xena and Hercules fan when it was so popular back in the 90’s. So my mom new I would love a Pandora bracelet. She bought one for my sister in-law my niece and myself along with several charms for each. In doing so she was able to get one half price or free, I forget, for herself. She gave them to us last Valentine's Day. I received a boy and girl charm at that time. I was very excited about it and right away wanted more. I had a charm bracelet when I was a kid and always enjoyed it. My birthday is four days after Valentine's Day so I got two more charms. Both of them had my birthstone on them. And at Easter my mom got me a rabbit.  The girls in my office were so jealous and asked if they could be adopted.
I have worn it every day since and I just love my Pandora bracelet. Since then I found one website in particular where you can create your own bracelet. And I have spent many a times day dreaming about what charm I will get next.
Sue, one lady at work, admired my bracelet and asked me all about it. Of course I had to tell her my story. Since then she too has a Pandora bracelet. She got hers for Christmas. I never went anywhere to look at charms until this Christmas.  I decided to purchase charms for my mom and my niece. I got a snowman for my mom. A red and orange murano glass bead for my niece and of course for me I bought the celestial stars & moon charm. On Christmas Eve we exchanged or gifts. Well my mom purchased us all quit the menagerie of charms. We ended up buying duplicates because we couldn’t resist buying for ourselves. So we started to exchange charms around the room. Four women talking about what they want to trade in charms was quite exhausting. My two year old daughter was listening to us talking about our bracelets. She found a shiny gold elastic band that was around one of the boxes that came from the jewelry store. This shiny band was a perfect fit for her wrist and she was walking around saying “look at mine!”. She wanted to be included in the excitement of the bracelets too. Needless to say my brother at this point chimed in and said can we finish the presents first then you guys can swap charms later. Sue and I shared our Christmas stories and she was admiring my drum charm. I really didn’t want a drum but that’s what I ended up with in our exchange. I told Sue if she gets me a clip, I will swap charms with her. Sue is into shopping on line and the one who found this website and encouraged me to tell my story.
