My name is Emma Grace. I am one of nine grandchildren, the only girl and the youngest grandchild.
So my Grandmother whom I am named after decided when I was five that I would inherit some of her favorite jewelry.
Two of her cherished possessions are a sterling silver charm bracelet with charms of famous places she visited.
There is a beautiful Statue of Liberty with the torch in burnished gold, a hula dancer honoring Hawaii,
a sombrero from her trip to Mexico,
a shamrock from the vacation she spent with
her grandparents in Ireland, and my favorite piece, a pair of Dutch shoes. That bracelet was given to me when I turned twelve, and now that I’m married and have my own daughter,
I tell her that one day she too will own it. I love sharing the stories my Grandmother told me about the different charms with family and friends
The other charm bracelet is a masterpiece in 18 K yellow gold. My Grandmother loved hearts as
jewelry, and she collected small charms, dimensional hearts with etchings and tiny diamonds, she even had a custom heart charm
made with her favorite rubies in the outline of a rose. There is a puffed heart that opens, and another one with a key and chain. The detail is breathtaking. Now that it is mine,
I wear it only for special occasions especially since I found out how much it would cost to replace it today!
I enjoyed writing about my charm bracelets. I am actually inspired to continue the tradition so I plan to start a charm bracelet
for my son that he can one day give the bracelet to the girl he marries.
Thank you Chains-and-Charms.
